THE CUSTOMER Sultan Qaboos University is the realization of the promise announced by His. Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said during the 10th anniversary of Oman’s National Day in 1980. Construction started in 1982 and the first Sultan Qaboos University students were enrolled in 1986. In accordance with the Royal Directives of His Majesty, The University commenced with five colleges; namely Medicine, Engineering, Agriculture, Education and Science. Furthermore the College of Arts was established in 1987, following the College of Commerce and Economics which was developed in 1993. The College of Law joined the University in 2006 and finally the College of Nursing was established in 2008.
KalSoft deployed System Center Configuration Manager at Sultan Qaboos University, (SQU) the largest University in Oman with more than 20,000 registered students and Faculty and 10,000 Computers, for software and hardware inventory, security patch management, Software Deployment and Operating System Deployment.
KalSoft proposed a data warehousing technique to convert this data to aggregated information through cubes. Microsoft SSRS services were also used to transform the data within these cubes to valuable information that can be shared with business users to understand the behavior of user interaction. The dynamic data captured through the event absorber on the site can help visualize very old data, like 2 years, though Power Pivot. The dashboards were based on HOLAP technology using SSAS and having multi-dimensional cubes, that provided valuable insights within seconds. The immense flow of data that needs to be managed, integrated, cleaned and make it subject oriented was resolved through data warehouse. Through data warehouse the analytical data gets compiled using SSAS and the dashboard used to fetch data from the SSAS Analytical Cubes.
