Client Overview:

Oman International Development and Investment Company SAOG (commonly known as OmInvest) is an investment holding company based in Oman. It holds significant stakes in various Omani companies, ranging from financial services, property development, food, and the industrial sector. They are a mid-size organization with over 50 employees.

Problem Faced:

OmInvest was looking to automate and mange their HR and Information Technology processes but they didn’t want to invest in completely new infrastructure. On the other hand, they needed a highly resilient and compliant solution that could handle these rapidly expanding processes.

Solution Being Implemented:

KalSoft proposed an in-house solution built on top of Microsoft SharePoint Online named as Kollaborate365. We also moved their domain controller and file server to Microsoft Azure because it is extremely resilient and guarantees 99.999% uptime, equating to less than 5 hours downtime a year which was essential for Financial Services sector.

The project took place with the entire HR and IT processes migrated seamlessly to the Microsoft Cloud. We fully migrated them from an ‘on-premise’ (the industry terms for a server on an organization’s own premises) server stack to a Hosted Azure and Office 365 E3 Solution.

OmInvest now have remote desktop servers, SQL servers, their in-house developers use Visual Studio in Azure, a File Server, Domain Controller, Office 365 E3, Active Directory sync and Windows 10 desktops, using Bitlocker to secure the desktops and Azure blob storage for database development files. We also implemented Power BI to report on querying the data out of their SQL systems.

For security, KalSoft implemented EMS with Advanced Threat protection and Multi-Factor Authentication. KalSoft now contains an Annual Maintenance Contract to provide a fully Managed IT Service and ongoing support for OmInvest.

The move to cloud saved the business up to 30% in Capex spending due to the speed of migration to Azure and Office 365, as opposed to building and shipping new on-premise servers. Their monthly bill is now on a fixed Opex maintainable costs mechanism and they can manage their spent. The processes are streamlined and scalable due to the architecture of Microsoft Cloud.
